Lima anak muda ini tak mengira bakal terjebak di tempat yang jauh dari rumah mereka. Mereka hanya bermaksud menghabiskan liburan di tempat yang benar-benar unik. Rusia adalah pilihan yang sepertinya menarik. Sayang, liburan kali ini bakal jadi sesuatu yang tak akan mereka lupakan seumur hidup mereka.
Liburan Luke (Emile Hirsch), Holly (Olivia Thirlby), Anne (Rachael Taylor), Cole (Joel Kinnaman), dan Oliver (Max Minghella) kali ini harus terpotong oleh peristiwa aneh sekaligus mengerikan yang terjadi di Moskow. Tiba-tiba saja langit jadi terang benderang dan sinar berwarna kemerahan jatuh ke bumi.
Benda-benda berpijar ini ternyata sama sekali tak bersahabat. Korban mulai berjatuhan sementara
mereka bahkan tak bisa melihat datangnya benda atau makhluk ini. Moskow bukan satu-satunya korban. Entah dari mana datangnya benda atau makhluk ini namun seluruh dunia sudah berhasil dikuasai. Kini lima anak muda yang sedang berlibur ini harus memeras otak untuk mencari cara mengalahkan makhluk ini.
